Sony’s No Hard Feelings has surpassed $50 million globally in just over 10 days. It’s poised to become the highest-grossing original R-rated studio comedy since 2019’s Good Boys. Interestingly, both movies were directed by Gene Stupnitsky, renowned for his work on NBC’s The Office, alongside producing partner Lee Eisenberg.
It is the story of Maddie who is a woman experiencing her 30s and in fear of losing her home, she starts to date a 19 yrs old son of a couple. The story then follows a few twists and turns to finally have a chaotic end.
The movie has received a positive 69% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and managed to collect $31 million domestically, and adding $20 million from overseas, the total box office collection goes to more than $51 million. Although, the movie faced a lot of hate but somehow it managed to grab the audience’s attention and thus the movie is able to bring an audience to theaters.
Lawrence’s performance has been praised for her comedic skills, both in dialogue and physical comedy. This film’s theatrical release is a rarity as such R-rated comedies often go straight to streaming platforms. With its grand success, we can hope for more such movies to get released in theaters.
