The OTT space is blooming constantly in India and it’s opening up new avenues for the current crop of actors. Incidentally, tier 2 heroes of Tollywood Rana Daggubati and Naga Chaitanya have already made their OTT debuts with Rana Naidu and Dhootha respectively.
Now, there are reports that another young hero Ram Pothineni might be making his OTT debut with a Netflix series sooner or later. If so, he would be another new addition to the list of Telugu tier 2 heroes entering the OTT space.
While the direct OTT space might be perceived as a step down by certain people as they feel a hero would do OTT shows only if his theatrical market is gone, that isn’t the case in reality.
OTT projects not just ensure timely and lucrative pay, but they also expand the market of a hero if his series clicks big time. If the show fairs very well in the Hindi space, it would help improve the OTT offers of the Heros next film.
So, it’s a win-win situation for the concerned hero with no downside. So, this OTT avenue must certainly be seen as a positive development by the tier 2 stars of Tollywood.
In the days ahead, we could see almost every Tollywood tier 2 hero entering the OTT space in order to upscale their market and add weight to their film’s market portfolio as well, through hefty OTT deals.
