Suspense thriller movies are a favorite among many OTT viewers, and the Tamil murder mystery film Oru Nodi has recently joined the streaming library on Amazon Prime Video.
The film’s title, translating to One Moment, is apt for this suspense-filled narrative. While the climax is good, the journey to reach it tests patience due to several lags. The low-quality production also is a big drawback.
Despite these flaws, Oru Nodi remains an appreciable attempt, offering a one-time watch investigation thriller that fans of the genre might still enjoy.
The plot follows Sakunthala, who seeks help from Inspector Paruthi after her husband’s mysterious disappearance. Initial investigations lead Paruthi to a criminal ring in Madurai and a corrupt politician. As he digs deeper, Paruthi uncovers the shocking murder of a young woman. Driven by a sense of justice, he resolves to unravel the mystery behind both cases and bring the culprit to light.
Thaman Kumar is ok in the role of Inspector Paruthi. The supporting cast contributes decently to the narrative.
However, the technical aspects of Oru Nodi reflect its low budget. Writer-director B. Manivarman introduces an intriguing concept but falters in execution.
The film’s potential is hindered by a wayward focus and a lack of a tightly woven screenplay. A more suspenseful build-up and a brisker pace could have transformed Oru Nodi into a truly gripping thriller.
Still, Oru Nodi is a commendable attempt that falls short of being exceptional. It holds enough intrigue for fans of the genre to give it a try.
