A user on X posted, “Why no Kannada streaming Pushpa 2?”, while others took to Netflix’s comment section to ask, “Where is Kannada?”

There is a growing belief that Netflix has been ignoring the Kannada film industry. The only notable Kannada film on the platform is Prashanth Neel’s Bagheera. Many people feel Netflix has not been making enough effort to buy more Kannada content.

The lack of deals for Kannada filmmakers has raised doubts about Netflix’s regional bias and superiority complex. Some think that Netflix may not see Kannada films as valuable enough for global audiences.

This has led to a belief that Netflix is neglecting a large group of viewers. This situation reflects the frustration of Kannada audiences who feel their films are not given enough importance on a global platform like Netflix.

Meanwhile, Pushpa 2 is aiming to set major OTT records. It is expected to surpass Lucky Baskhar (5.1M views) as the most-viewed South Indian film in its debut week.

The next milestone would be overtaking Animal (6.9M views) as the most-watched Indian film in its opening week. The biggest challenge is beating Maharaja, which holds the 2024 record with 19.7M views.

All eyes are now on Pushpa 2’s streaming numbers to see if it dominates Netflix’s viewership charts.
