Netflix‘s original Tamil film Pyaar Prema Kalyanam starring Elan in the lead role and directed by him, started streaming on the platform on August 21st and is now receiving mixed responses from audiences and critics alike.
Since the director Elan’s previous films, such as Star and Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, were successful ventures and because he has debuted as an actor with this film, Pyaar Prema Kalyanam had a decent amount of hype among the audiences.
Pyaar Prema Kalyanam is based on the concept of a son in law who lives in his wife’s family home. The musical album of this film was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and actors like Radhika Sarathkumar, M S Bhaskar and Yogi Babu have played crucial roles in this film.
However, after watching the film, while some viewers are sharing decent responses, claiming that Pyaar Prema Kalyanam is an entertaining film with lots of humorous portions in it and that the lead characters played by Elan and Saanve Meghana have delivered their best performances, others are sharing negative responses.
They suggest that even though the first half of the film was somewhat okay with some good comedy tracks, the second half of the film was very flat, and the screenplay was the major drawback.
Also, they point to the runtime of the film, as Pyaar Prema Kalyanam is only 2 hours and 6 minutes long and claim that even though the runtime is short, because of the predictable screenplay, the film feels stretched and draggy.
