Sector 36 is a mysterious thriller series that covers a real life incident. Writer Bodhayan Roychaudhary brings us the true crime series about missing children from a slum in sector 36 of New Delhi. It is directed by Aditya Nimbalkar and has a plot that surrounds the chase of a cunning serial killer by the police. The series has a talented star cast that includes Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal, Darshan Jariwal, and Ipshita Chakraborty.
An exciting news for the project is that it will premiere at the 15th International Film Festival of Melbourne. Earlier, many true crime thrillers have been released on the OTT platforms and they have been liked by the fans. Yet the struggle remains for telling an authentic tale and not oversaturating the screenplay with cinematic spectacles. Self acclaimed trailblazers often end up disappointing viewers and critics like the case with The Railway Men or Trial By Fire.
Vikrant Massey was recently seen in Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba and he has casted a strong presence for himself on OTT. With the Netflix release of Sector 36 on 13 September the fate of the series will be revealed. If it handles the horrifying narrative with much consideration and sensitivity, the show can work wonders as it will act as a cautionary tale by educating the audiences. A release on the international platform is surely going to add to its publicity. In the past many Indian projects have become internationally acclaimed, let’s see what’s to come for Sector 36!
