Manoj Bajpayee is considered to be the king of OTT, thanks to hits like ‘The Family Man,’ ‘Bandaa,’ and ‘Gulmohar’. His last web series The Killer Soup was also decent. He’s one of the highest-paid actors on OTT, and reportedly gets around Rs 10-12 crore per series.
However, not all his ventures have been great.
The latest disappointment comes in the form of ‘Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout’, released on Zee5.
Directed by Aban Bharucha Deohans, this mystery thriller stars Manoj Bajpayee, Prachi Desai, and Parul Gulati, following the events of its predecessor, ‘Silence…Can You Hear It?’ from 2021.
Sadly, ‘Silence 2’ fails to live up to expectations. Critics and audiences alike find it lacking in excitement, with a runtime of close to 2 hours and 40 minutes feeling tedious.
The writing and direction seem to miss the mark, failing to deliver the suspense and intrigue expected from a crime thriller.
Manoj Bajpayee’s portrayal of Avinash, the lead character, falls short of the memorable performance he delivered as Srikanth Tiwari in ‘The Family Man’. Even the supporting cast, including Prachi Desai, Vaquar Shaikh, and Sahil Vaid, failed to leave a lasting impression.
While ‘Silence 2’ has the potential to be great, it’s ultimately let down by numerous flaws. Hopefully, if there’s a third installment in the works, the creators will address these issues and deliver a more satisfying experience.
There is no excuse for a flop like this when there are so many superb crime shows for inspiration.
