Sky Force Sitaare Zameen Par

In this ever evolving enrichment world, debates and arguments about box office and OTT is a never ending rat wheel.

Currently in the battlefield called “X” a clash between Akshay Kumar’s “Skyforce” and Aamir Khan’s “Sitaare Zameen Par” has started a fresh debate.

But this time, it’s not an official battle between these two movies or actors, it is between genuine fans.

A recent post on X said that “Skyforce” was a bigger hit than “Sitaare Zameen Par” claiming it gathered an impressive ₹150 crore box office collection alongside with a huge OTT deal.

On the frontfoot, this seems like a fair argument, but if you pay close attention.

As a reply to this, another user said that “Sitaare Zameen Par” was offered a hefty ₹125 crore from OTT platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.

Nonetheless Aamir Khan refused the offer, staying true to his vision of theatrical experience.

The same user reminded that even Aamir’s previous film, “Laal Singh Chaddha”, having an underwhelming theatrical run, when it came to OTT garnered a huge audience.

This small OTT war between two users highlights two very different sides.

Akshay Kumar, known for his entertainers and back-to-back releases, embraces OTT platforms for broader reach and financial gains, and in most cases we have seen OTT helped Akshay Kumar to shine out loud for example his recent release “Kesari Chapter 2”.

But on the other hand Aamir Khan, remains old school, treating films as a medium which should be enjoyed through the big screen and in most cases we see Amir Khan avoiding the digital platforms.

But the real question is, what defines success today? The box office collection or the OTT deals?

Because we have to keep this point in mind that cinema will always belong to the theatres but in this rapidly changing world OTT is the way to spread the movie out to the larger audience.
