Netflix usually doesn’t customize its logo animation, but when they do, you can tell it’s a big deal. Mix that with Snyder’s vision and creativity, and both parties have been cooking up something special – “Rebel Moon.”
Now, Netflix has dropped the trailer, and in short, it’s brutal and beautiful.
The story revolves around Kora (Sofia Boutella), forming a team to save the galaxy from invasion. Starring Sofia Boutella, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, and Cary Elwes, it aligns with Snyder’s passion for bringing the band together.
It also shares the same universe as “Army of the Dead,” continuing with Snyder’s vision.
The visuals of the trailer are spectacular, exactly what you’d expect from a Snyder film. Roaming in his favorite sci-fi forte, the trailer evokes reminiscences of Star Wars, Dune, and a rebel film.
The trailer is a true action glamour, featuring firearms, spears, and space fighting. The protagonist’s cry, “I am a child of war,” gives us a small taste of what to expect.
Snyder penned a 172-page script for “Rebel Moon,” initially aiming for a three-hour-plus film. Netflix and Snyder opted to split it into two parts, both having adult-oriented director’s cuts.
The first part, titled “Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire,” will be streaming on Netflix from December 22, 2023, with a limited theatrical release on December 17. It will be followed by the second part, released on April 19, 2024.
