The ongoing Asia Cup campaign has already faced criticism for overly hyping India vs Pakistan matches. However, the bigger issue now is the disappointing experience offered by the official OTT platform, SonyLiv.
Fans were excited to watch another thrilling India-Pakistan clash, but SonyLiv disrupted the excitement with constant glitches and poor streaming quality. The live stream was filled with errors, frustrating viewers across the country.
Angry users flooded social media with complaints, criticising SonyLiv for its poor cricket streaming. Many urged the platform to improve its streaming technology before hosting major sporting events again.
One frustrated user posted that SonyLiv should first learn how to air a cricket match live, pointing out constant freezing, forced restarts, and an overall “pathetic” experience.
Another major complaint was the excessive number of ads. Users noted that even a short gap during the match triggered lengthy ads, which affected the flow of the game. Some said a 1-minute ad would appear immediately after launching the app.
Social media was soon filled with posts echoing these frustrations. Many viewers said the app is not suitable for streaming cricket and suggested JioHotstar might be a much better alternative.
A user even added that SonyLiv’s app is nowhere near the standard of other platforms. Repeated restarts not only disrupted viewing but also caused more ads to appear, making viewers miss key overs.
As the Asia Cup nears its end, SonyLiv’s performance has left a sour taste among cricket fans. Whether the platform will fix these issues remains to be seen.
.@SonyLIV @SonyLIVIntl your app is nowhere near the standard of other cricket streaming platforms. Constant freezing, forced restarts which forces repeated ads make viewers miss overs. Frustrating & pathetic experience.#INDvPAK

Sony Liv fucking sucks man. If they go 10 seconds without a ball being bowled, they immediately put an ad. If you start watching the match, you get an ad for 1 minute. Any second where nothing happens, they immediately put an AD

@SonyLIV first try to learn how to air a cricket match live. Constant freezing and forced restarts. You’ve been pathetic. Below below average just like Paxtanis.
