Boman Irani has astounded fans with his directorial debut ‘The Mehta Boys’. Both Irani and Avinash Tiwary have given layered performances that people are now praising.
There are some negative criticisms of the film as well, but audiences on OTT are mostly satisfied with the story and now want more from the first time director. It does not happen very often that a Bollywood actor turned filmmaker gets this much praise for a content driven film.

The reason behind this success is probably Boman’s eccentric focus on the writing of the show. He wrote the movie with Alexander Dinelaris, the Oscar winning screenwriter of ‘Birdman’. With this extraordinary effort, the actor director has lit up hope in the hearts of fans for more movies and shows like this.
The broad tapestry of emotions and the tension between the father and son was found to be relatable by many. Boman Irani has been typecast in minor comic roles for a long time. Now that he is in the director’s chair, he utilises his own capabilities well too.

It is not wrong on the part of fans to demand more from him. As filmmakers on both OTT and theatricals are failing to provide them with the stories they actually want, it is good news that they find hope in a new director.
