These apps include popular applications like Ullu, ALTT, Desiflix, and many more applications, which were allegedly showcasing soft pornographic content via their platform.

The move by the Government is taken to preserve Indian legal and cultural standards by banning explicit sexuality in numerous shows.

The complete list of OTT applications banned is as follows: Prime Play, Hunters, Dream Films, Rangeen, NeonXVIP, ALTT, ULLU, Big Shots App, Desiflix, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalva App, Wow Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hit Prime, Feneo, ShowX, Sol Talkies, Adda TV, HotX VIP, Hulchal App, MoodX, Fugi, Triflicks, and Mojflix.

The ministry order issued stated that these apps allegedly continued to bypass norms related to certification and age warnings despite several warnings and the formation of a self-regulatory framework under the IT Rules.

It further stated that these apps were easily available via third-party app stores and were also heavily promoted on social media, hence influencing several users.

This showcases the growing concern regarding the easy accessibility of explicit content to minors and its social impact. It is a huge step taken by the government to spread awareness and protect the youth from being influenced.
