In a recent development surrounding Ranbir Kapoor’s much-anticipated film ‘Animal,’ reports have emerged suggesting that the Over-The-Top (OTT) version of the movie could be a marathon viewing experience, exceeding the already lengthy theatrical runtime.
The Central Board of Film Certification recently granted ‘Animal’ an ‘A’ certificate, indicating mature content. The theatrical release, scheduled for December 1, boasts a runtime of 3 hours and 21 minutes, highlighting the depth of the narrative centered around the intricate father-son relationship portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
However, sources now hint at an extended version exclusively for OTT platforms, potentially surpassing the already extensive 3-hour, 21-minute theatrical runtime. Reportedly, the OTT cut may add an additional 30 minutes to the gripping storyline, making it an even more immersive experience for viewers.
Ranbir Kapoor, the lead actor in ‘Animal,’ addressed the substantial runtime, expressing that the intricate narrative demands the extended duration to effectively resonate with the audience. According to Kapoor, the initial cut of the film ran for an impressive 3 hours and 49 minutes, with the makers finding it thoroughly entertaining.
Interestingly, it is rumored that the original plan was to release the extended version in theaters, complete with two intervals. However, distributors opted for a more conservative approach, resulting in certain scenes being trimmed to achieve the current theatrical runtime.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Animal’ marks the filmmaker’s second venture in Bollywood after the widely acclaimed ‘Kabir Singh.’ The movie not only features Ranbir Kapoor but also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles.
As the audience eagerly awaits the theatrical release on December 1, the speculations surrounding the extended OTT version add an element of anticipation, leaving fans curious about the immersive experience that might unfold beyond the confines of the cinema hall.
