sookshmadarshini--marco-delayed-on-ott

There has been growing excitement surrounding the OTT release of Sookshmadarshini, a mystery thriller starring Nazriya Nazim and Basil Joseph, which was well-received during its theatrical run.

The HD print has already been leaked on torrents but there is a loyal audience who prefer to watch the legal version on OTT.

Along with Sookshmadarshini, films like Marco and Rifle Club are also awaiting their digital debuts. However, there have been delays in the OTT release of these movies, and popular producer Listin Stephen recently shared his thoughts on the matter.

In an interview during the release of his film ED, Listin Stephen explained that the delay in OTT releases is partly due to the unpredictable nature of the OTT business.

He pointed out that in the past, producers had a clear idea of how much their films would earn in the OTT space, but now, it’s much harder to predict the success of a movie.

As a result, many producers are opting for pay-per-view options, which offer more control over the revenue.

Stephen also mentioned that some recent releases, including Premalu, Manjummel Boys, ARM, and Sookshmadarshini, only signed their OTT deals after their theatrical release.

In fact, Marco, produced by Sharif Muhammed, has not even sold its streaming rights yet.

In addition to the delay, Sookshmadarshini has been plagued by piracy issues. The film was leaked twice: first in HD-quality on Telegram and later on YouTube.

The filmmakers have been actively working to remove the pirated versions, but the leaks have affected the film’s digital presence.

Sookshmadarshini, a dark comedy mystery thriller, was released in cinemas on November 22, 2024, and its OTT release is highly awaited.
