Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 Gets Major Court Relief

Ajay Devgn Drishyam 3 gets Madras HC relief

Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 has managed to avoid a legal roadblock. The Madras High Court has refused to stay the film’s release, giving the Hindi sequel some breathing room amid a dispute over its remake rights.

The case was brought by Rajkumar Theatres, which claims a 50% share in the Hindi and certain North Indian remake rights of the Drishyam franchise. The company cited its earlier agreements and claimed it had paid Rs 50 crore for the rights.

Rajkumar Theatres argued that Drishyam 3 was being made without its consent and sought to stop its theatrical, OTT, satellite and other releases until the dispute was taken up in arbitration.

The filmmakers disputed the claim, pointing to later transfers of the rights and a 2022 settlement.

After looking at the material available at this stage, the High Court found that Rajkumar Theatres had not shown a clear continuing right over the Hindi remake and rejected its request to put the film on hold.
