Akshaye Khanna’s striking screen presence in Dhurandhar became a major talking point last month. His popularity continued to rise, and the discussion has now shifted to his cameo in Border 2, which is currently running in theatres.
For some time, online users have claimed that Akshaye Khanna was added to Border 2 only after the box office success of Dhurandhar. These rumours gained traction across social media platforms.
However, producer Bhushan Kumar has dismissed these claims. He stated that Akshaye’s cameo was already part of the script and was planned well in advance. He also clarified that the cameo was shot after Dhurandhar released in theatres.
Bhushan added that Border 2 already had a cult following. He stressed that the makers never intended to cash in on Akshaye Khanna’s popularity. He also denied viral reports related to Suniel Shetty and asked audiences to watch the end credits carefully.
Director Anurag Singh also addressed the issue in an interview. He confirmed that Akshaye’s scenes were filmed a few days after Dhurandhar released and described the cameo as a tribute to the original film that released years ago.
As Border 2 continues to gain momentum at the box office, netizens are urging Bhushan Kumar to collaborate again with Akshaye Khanna. At the same time, some remain unsure if a solo Akshaye Khanna film would work in the current market.
Many have suggested casting him in a two hero project where his performance can stand out. Meanwhile, Akshaye’s expanding fan base claims his cameo is helping Border 2 draw audiences, especially fans of the original film.
So far, the makers of Dhurandhar 2 have not confirmed whether Akshaye will have an extended role. Questions continue to arise due to the fate of his character in the first film. The clarity will likely come only after the film’s release.
