Akshaye Khanna’s exit from Drishyam 3 has triggered widespread discussion within the film industry. Director Abhishek Pathak has now spoken openly about the situation, offering clarity on what led to the sudden departure and how it affected the production.
According to Abhishek Pathak, Akshaye Khanna exited the film just five days before shooting was scheduled to begin. This happened despite a signed contract and completed preparations like look tests, narration, and costume fittings. The timing created serious disruption for the team.
The director noted that Ajay Devgn chose not to intervene in the matter. As the lead actor and face of the franchise, he left the decision entirely to the director. This approach reflected their professional trust and kept the issue contained.
Abhishek also addressed rumours related to payment disputes. He stated that remuneration terms had already been renegotiated and mutually finalised. A formal contract was signed well before the disagreement emerged.
The main conflict, according to the director, centred on Akshaye Khanna’s insistence on wearing a wig. Abhishek felt this would affect continuity since the film continues directly from the previous part. Although initially resolved, the issue resurfaced later.
The disagreement eventually led to Akshaye stepping away from the project. In a candid remark, Abhishek suggested external influences may have played a role in the actor’s decision. He also challenged the actor to carry a solo film.
Following the exit, Jaideep Ahlawat joined the cast in a newly written role. This allowed Drishyam 3 to move ahead without changing its central storyline or narrative direction.
