Anurag-Bobby Film in Trouble: Peddi & VD Blocking Screens?

Bandar faces multiplex screen allocation issues

The current week has turned challenging for several films scheduled for theatrical release. While Peddi has already arrived with its Hindi-dubbed version, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Bandar, and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe are reportedly facing issues related to screen allocation.

The biggest concern appears to be for Bandar, directed by Anurag Kashyap. Reports suggest that the film has not received the desired number of shows in major cinema chains. As a result, Zee Studios has reportedly put the planned screenings in national multiplex chains on hold.

According to industry sources, the producers requested four shows in multiplexes with five screens and three shows in properties with four screens. However, the national chains reportedly declined the request. Reports claim that these chains are also distributing the films featuring Varun Dhawan and Ram Charan.

Girish Johar, Distribution & Revenue Head at Zee, stated that the team had requested a fair allocation of shows. He also explained that the makers were not aiming for an overly wide release. According to him, theatre chains are currently working towards resolving the issue.

The situation has triggered reactions across social media. Some users accused national chains of unfairly limiting opportunities for Bobby Deol’s film. Others alleged that the move could benefit competing releases by allowing them to secure a larger share of collections.

A section of moviegoers argued that Bandar deserves additional screenings. Some believe the film has enough potential to attract audiences and generate strong footfalls. They also feel that multiplex chains could miss a profitable opportunity if the film receives limited exposure.

With the release date approaching and significant investments involved, industry observers are closely monitoring developments. The next few days will determine whether Bandar receives the number of shows sought by its makers. The outcome could play an important role in shaping its box office performance.
