Every actor deserves to do a solo film. Unfortunately, there is a long list of faces who have failed to deliver good results at the box office despite being considered the best or underrated in certain genres. The top five names are now trending on social media, and netizens believe that they should not get solo films anymore.
The one who is on top is Shahid Kapoor. Considered to be one of the most versatile actors of today’s generation, he has been struggling to leave a mark for a long time, specifically after the pandemic. Shahid’s last hit was Kabir Singh in 2019. While films like O’Romeo and Cocktail 2 were expected to mark a comeback, the release timing and a lot of other things have gone wrong.
Then there is Tiger Shroff. Before the pandemic, Tiger’s films used to create excitement among the audience. But that excitement has ended now. Despite collaborating with producers like Sajid Nadiadwala, his films are now struggling to even collect Rs. 40 crores.
Trade experts and netizens have pointed out that although Tiger has always been good in action, directors have preferred to use his skills in over-the-top scenes without a good script and storyline, leading to a decline in his career.
Rajkummar Rao is also included in this list. While his performances are considered to be flawless, the actor is failing to deliver the mass entertainment that audiences are expecting. Furthermore, his films hardly get a good opening, and they end up with a lifetime collection of somewhere between Rs. 20-50 crores.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has tried to leave an impression as a solo actor. But this has created bad records for him, with lifetime numbers of hardly Rs. 5 crores. The majority believes that Nawazuddin should stick to supporting roles and OTT projects, considering the audience’s requirements for theatrical entertainment in today’s time.
The last is Pankaj Tripathi. Although he has built a fan base through his character Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur, he has failed to attract the same number of audiences for his solo film. Social media users also believe that he should not get lead roles as Bollywood’s box office results are going through a tough phase.
While some agreed that the last two names are suitable for the list, they said that the other three are not. This particular section believes that Shahid and Tiger have the potential to pull audiences if they understand what people want to see and choose some meaningful scripts instead of depending on word-of-mouth.
A similar opinion was shared for Rajkummar, with people saying that he should stick to stories similar to Stree 2 that have mass appeal and can bring the best out of him at the same time.
The list has clearly started a new debate on various platforms. But only time will tell if the actors will understand the kind of films they need to do and go back to the position where they have been standing for a long time.
