Vidya Balan has joined the star-studded cast of Raja Shivaji, an ambitious Pan-India film directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh.

Vidya’s addition strengthens an already impressive ensemble, which includes Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amole Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh.

The role Vidya will play is described as key and crucial to the narrative, making her a natural choice for Riteish, who is directing his debut film.

She has already completed her look test and is set to begin shooting within the next fortnight.

Produced in partnership with Jio Studios, Raja Shivaji is one of the rare Marathi films designed for a Pan-Indian audience.
