The Department says that most of the revocations were due to criminal activity. Other reasons like public safety concerns, immigration violations, fraud, and misrepresentation were also listed as reasons for revocations.

Another important piece of information given was regarding birth tourism. Birth tourism is the practice of traveling specifically to give birth, so the newborn gains citizenship.

Something that is a common practice for US travelers, so that their child can get US citizens.

The State Department state that over 4,000 visas were revoked for travelers intending to enter the US to give birth. Of that, over 700 belonged to Chinese nationals.

In 2025, only 23,000 visas were revoked. 25% of them were for violent crimes, and 36% for alcohol and drug-related offenses.

This information comes in the wake of the harshest immigration crackdown seen in the US. Indians living and working in the States have remained on edge since late 2025, as even minor offenses can now lead to deportation.
