When Stree and Stree 2 became massive successes, people couldn’t wait to see what Maddock Films had in store next.
Then came Munjya, which also found an audience with its fun comic-horror genre.

With Chhaava, despite not being critically strong, the film managed to attract viewers due to religious sentiments that resonated with the masses.
However, from there on, it became clear that Maddock had started to compromise on storytelling in pursuit of bigger commercial success.

Thinking about their latest release Bhool Chuk Maaf, some believe the cracks in Maddock’s storytelling are more visible now, with the production house appearing to prioritize quantity over quality.
Right after the success of Chhaava, the production house announced an ambitious lineup of films within the horror-comedy universe. These include Thama (2025), Shakti Shalini (2025), Bhediya 2 (2026), Chamunda (2026), Stree 3 (2027), Mahamunjya (2027), Pehla Mahayudh (2028), and Doosra Mahayudh (2028).

While some fans are excited about this slate, others are skeptical about whether such an extensive and overly ambitious lineup will affect the quality of the films being produced.
In Chhaava, we already saw a dip in quality, with underwhelming music, forgettable acting, unimpressive action sequences, and an overuse of slow-motion shots.
In Bhool Chuk Maaf, Rajkummar Rao’s portrayal of a small-town boy felt repetitive. Despite a promising premise, the film ended up being a disappointing attempt at exploring an otherwise compelling theme.
With so many projects lined up over the next few years, fans are questioning whether Maddock will be able to maintain the level of quality seen in Stree and Munjya, or if the decline will continue.
