Is Aamir Reaping Benefits of Hrithik’s Rejection?

Hrithik Roshan regrets rejecting 3 Idiots

Hrithik Roshan recently made a candid revelation that has stirred nostalgia among Bollywood fans. The actor admitted that he turned down two of the most iconic roles of modern Indian cinema — Dil Chahta Hai and 3 Idiots. Speaking about this decision, Hrithik said, “I regret saying no to Dil Chahta Hai and 3 Idiots, but I believe Aamir Khan was the best choice for both those movies — it had a destiny.”

His statement provides a rare insight into the casting choices that shaped Bollywood’s trajectory. Dil Chahta Hai (2001), a cult classic directed by Farhan Akhtar, and 3 Idiots (2009), the record-breaking film by Rajkumar Hirani, are considered milestones in Indian cinema. Despite his regrets, Hrithik’s acknowledgment of Aamir Khan’s brilliant performances reflects mutual respect between the two stars.

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan is now focusing on his next big film, War 2, which also features Kiara Advani, Jr. NTR, and Anil Kapoor. The official trailer has already generated buzz, and fans eagerly await its release on August 14, 2025. After his previous film Fighter failed to perform at the box office, War 2 is expected to revive Hrithik’s star power.

Interestingly, both 3 Idiots and Dil Chahta Hai turned out to be game-changers for Aamir Khan. Had Hrithik accepted these roles, Bollywood history might have looked very different. However, Hrithik believes the destiny of these films was aligned with Aamir, making his regret both honest and humble.
