Jaat 2 Sequel

Sunny Deol’s Jaat has been performing very averagely at the box office. The extended first week is expected to end at around 60 crores net, and the film’s lifetime run may wrap up below 80 crores net. At this rate, even achieving an “average” verdict seems like a struggle.

And yet, in a surprising move, the makers have announced Jaat 2. Typically, a sequel is announced when the first film becomes a blockbuster or at least earns cult status.

But here, Jaat hasn’t even completed its first week and is already underwhelming in terms of collections — yet Mythri Movie Makers have gone ahead and revealed plans for a sequel.

Many see this as a smart PR tactic — an attempt to create the perception that the film is a hit and, therefore, deserving of a second part.

The announcement appears to be more about boosting the second weekend collections than about genuine sequel plans.

They’ve dropped the Jaat 2 news — which may never actually materialize — just to pull in more crowds for Jaat over the weekend.

The numbers don’t lie. Made on a 150 crores budget, Jaat has only grossed 75 crores worldwide so far. Sunny Deol alone took 50 crores as remuneration, and the theatrical share won’t even cover that. Overseas, the film is already a washout.

Jaat is heading for losses, and now there’s talk of a second part?

This sequel talk feels more like a last-minute marketing gimmick than a real creative decision. It came out of nowhere while the first film is still in its debut week!

Kudos to the marketing team — clever play. But is the audience really that gullible? Will they fall for the illusion and rush to the theaters? That seems unlikely.
