Kantara Ch. 1 Hindi Day 2: Solid Hold or Drop?

Kantara Chapter 1 Hindi box office update

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 released across India with high expectations, but the Hindi version has underperformed. According to BoxOfficeIndia, the film earned about Rs. 18 crore net on day one, far below the Rs. 30–40 crore range predicted earlier.

The first film’s phenomenal run and the festive release during Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra had created strong buzz. In comparison, KGF 2 crossed Rs. 50 crores on its Hindi debut, while Kantara Chapter 1 managed less than 40 percent of that number.

Analysts attribute this slow start to weak promotions and an average trailer. The first Kantara grew from a Rs. 1 crore opening to nearly Rs. 80 crores lifetime in Hindi. But unlike KGF 2 or Pushpa 2, the sequel is driven more by storytelling than star power.

At the all-India level, though, the film posted an impressive day one gross of Rs. 70 crores across all languages, as reported by Pinkvilla. This includes Rs. 4.5 crores from Wednesday night previews. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh remain the biggest contributors to revenue.

Worldwide, Kantara: Chapter 1 earned nearly Rs. 80 crores on its opening day. However, the Hindi version witnessed a sharp drop on day two, with early figures showing a decline of over 50 percent. Collections are now estimated at just Rs. 8–9 crores.

The Kannada and Telugu versions continue to perform strongly with solid holds on the second day. For true pan-India success, though, the Hindi market is crucial. To meet expectations, the film must cross at least Rs. 20 crores in Hindi on Sunday.
