A recent clip of an interview between Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt has been making rounds on social media. In the video, Kareena jokingly asks what would be Alia’s reaction if her latest movie Jigra hits the 500 Cr. mark.
Alia’s shocked expression at the statement has left social media with laughs, owing to Jigra’s average performance at the Box office. The movie seems to be underperforming in the theatres, with the first-day collection barely reaching ₹5 Cr. going by trade reports.
People have been mocking Kareena Kapoor for her over-the-top optimism in the face of extremely poor reviews.
One user on social media said, “Alia Bhatt cannot believe Kareena Kapoor thinks Jigra will cross 500 crores! What a joke!”, while another satirically commented, “Empty theatres and 500 crores—maybe in another universe, Kareena!”
According to Bollywood news websites, Jigra has had a very average start at the Box Office, with its Hindi earnings amounting to ₹4.2 Cr. while the Telugu collection was barely able to amass ₹5,00,000.
People are also accusing the makers of ‘Corporate booking’, as theatres that are filled on paper seem mostly empty in reality.
While a higher 2nd-day collection is expected from the film, the message from the audience seems pretty clear—If such a performance continues, Jigra might soon fade into obscurity, much to the disappointment of Alia and Kareena!
