Recently, Kareena took a dig at Prada, the Italian brand, with her recent story where she was posting about her holiday. She shared a snap of her legs while wearing Kolhapuri sandals and sunbathing.
She wittily captioned it “Sorry not Prada but my OG Kolhapuri”. For those who are unaware of the whole controversy it is important to know that Prada recently launched a footwear collection at a show in Milan.
As it went viral on social media, people from India realised that it was an exact replica of Kolhapuri sandals which are sold by hard working artisans for 300-1500 rupees. But Prada was selling copied designs for over 1.2 lakh rupees.
It raises a great concern over fashion theft, a brand like Prada has means to influence the world. But vulnerable artisans were exploited by them when they could have given them due credit and raised awareness about Kolhapuri sandals.
Fans loved Kareena’s response and cheered her for being vocal about her country’s heritage.
