Kesari 2 Box Office

The reviews for Kesari 2 are calling it one of the best films of the year.

It is impactful, technically sound, and leaves a lasting impression. However, the box office collection doesn’t reflect the praise the film has received.

The film struggled to cross ₹30 crore over its opening weekend.

It earned around ₹8 crore on its release day and barely reached ₹30 crore by the end of the weekend.

As of Monday, the film has managed to collect only ₹4.5 crore, which marks a drop of over 50% from its Friday collection.

This performance reinforces the fact that good content alone isn’t enough, you also need strong ground-level hype to bring audiences to the theatres.

One of the reasons the film hasn’t generated the buzz it deserves could be Akshay Kumar’s recent track record. His last few films didn’t leave a lasting impression.

Many of those films relied heavily on PR to build excitement, and now, when a film with genuine merit comes along, audiences find it hard to trust the buzz.

Post-COVID, audiences have become far more selective. They want to know if a film is worth their time, otherwise, they’d rather wait for it to drop on an OTT platform.

With a budget of ₹150 crore, the film has only managed to earn around ₹34 crore so far.

It seems unlikely that the film will recover its budget through theatrical releases alone. OTT platforms may give it the space and recognition it truly deserves, just like many other quality films that were initially overlooked in theatres.
