Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor has officially begun shooting his much-talked-about project Mom 2, featuring his daughter Khushi Kapoor. The film is said to be a spiritual sequel to the 2017 hit Mom, which starred his late wife, Sridevi.
At the 25th IIFA Awards held in March, Boney revealed plans to make a film with Khushi that would continue the emotional essence of Mom. He mentioned that Khushi wanted to follow in her legendary mother’s footsteps and honour her legacy through this project.
According to recent reports, the film went on floors on October 26, 2025, right after Diwali, in Mumbai. A reliable source confirmed that the team has already completed around 10–11 days of shooting.
The same source revealed that Khushi Kapoor plays a key role alongside Bollywood actress Karishma Tanna. Mom 2 is said to be a spiritual sequel rather than a direct continuation of the original story.
Industry buzz suggests that Boney Kapoor had initially planned to announce the film on his birthday, November 11. However, the news broke earlier than expected as on-set pictures went viral across social media.
As soon as the update surfaced online, fans began comparing Khushi’s acting skills with that of her late mother, Sridevi. Many expressed mixed reactions, with some feeling it might be too soon for Khushi to take on such an iconic title.
Khushi Kapoor has previously appeared in The Archies, Loveyapa, and Nadaniyaan. Critics have often pointed out her inconsistent performances, leading many to question whether she can rise to the challenge of Mom 2.
Fans of Sridevi believe that Khushi is attempting to continue a powerful legacy. Sridevi had posthumously received a National Award for her performance in Mom, adding immense emotional weight to this sequel.
