Directed by Ravi Udyawar, it featured actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna. The heartfelt theme of a mother taking revenge on her stepdaughter’s rapists struck a chord with audiences across all ages and genders.

Now, Boney Kapoor is reportedly planning to revive the legacy of his wife and pass it on to their daughter. Mom 2 is said to be in the pipeline, starring Khushi Kapoor in the lead role, and the film is expected to follow a similar theme.
However, after this report surfaced, it was met with considerable backlash from netizens. Many pointed out that someone with a flop career of three films—The Archies, Loveyapa, and Nadaaniyan—cannot carry forward the legacy of Sridevi.

According to many fans, nepotism is being taken up a notch, and they believe an outsider would do more justice to Sridevi’s legacy—especially considering she herself was an outsider who became a celebrated figure across various Indian film industries.
Many feel Khushi lacks the depth and screen presence needed and fear that she might end up tarnishing her mother’s final memory for longtime fans.
