Director Destroys AK: Cinema Isn’t Dying — You Are!

Laxman Utekar Anurag Kashyap

Anurag Kashyap has been embroiled in several controversies over the years. It’s almost like the filmmaker remains in the news not just for his films but also due to his opinions and remarks.

Recently, recent remarks about “cinema dying” and his desire to move away from a “toxic” film industry have sparked debate across the Indian film community.

While people had many things to say, it was Laxman Utekar, who is riding high with the success of Chhaava, who caught the most attention.

He took a jibe at Anurag Kashyap’s comments and said, ““It’s Not The Audience — It’s You.”

Laxman also added people like Anurag do not have the sensibility to accept the audience’s taste. So, it’s not cinema that is dying, it’s his decaying connection with the audience.

The filmmaker also supported his claims by discussing the success of recent films like Chhaava, Pushpa, RRR, and Baahubali.

He further asked, “If cinema is dying, how are films earning Rs. 800 crore?” Laxman also hit back at Anurag again and said, ““No one is forcing you to stay.”

It seems like Anurag’s claims have emerged out of allegations of self-booking against most of the Hindi films. It has become common now and Anurag has avoided doing the same over the years.

While both the directors have got into a dispute now, let’s see if it would take a worse turn in any manner in the upcoming days.
