Netflix and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Ink are collaborating on a new venture that plans to bring Indian stories to global platforms. The official announcement was recently made by the two entertainment firms and they claimed to have a shared vision heading forward in this direction.
Earlier the two entertainment giants have collaborated and given some lesser known projects like Kathal, Pagglait and Jaane Jaan which show that there is yet a potential that can be tapped into. Moreover, the demand for desi stories on a global platform has urged many filmmakers and production houses to go on a big scale and this collaboration can be an exciting one.
However, the news is not devoid of backlash from the fans who feel that Ekta is not the face of authentic Indian lifestyle. Often dragged into the nepo-kid scrutiny she is known majorly as a name from the TV industry.
She is known for projects like Naagin and the lethargic saas bahu drama. If this is what she goes forward in this new collaboration fans feel that it will be a disaster for Indian entertainment’s image to the world.
Already, Netflix content like Jewel Thief, Nadaaniyan and Archies has been an absolutely embarrassing representation. Fans feel skeptical about Ekta’s entry at this point.
