Actor Paresh Rawal

Phir Hera Pheri may have made us laugh, but did it live up to the magic of the original? Not according to Paresh Rawal.

“Woh film bani nahi thi bara bar,” he said, bigger doesn’t always mean better.

Unlike the effortless humour of Hera Pheri, the sequel went for chaotic comedy, added more characters, more sequences, more twists.

But did it need all that? Paresh Rawal says the film lost its simplicity by trying too hard.

There was a sense of overconfidence, and that shouldn’t have happened. Is that why Phir Hera Pheri is more of a meme factory than a comedy classic?

Paresh Rawal pointed out that a good sequel should evolve its characters not just milk nostalgia.

He praised Lage Raho Munna Bhai for taking the story forward meaningfully, not just repeating what worked in Munna Bhai MBBS.

Imagine if Phir Hera Pheri had done the same, what if Baburao, Raju and Shyam had been given more depth instead of just making them greedier?

The much awaited third installment is on its way, with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal all returning.

But Paresh Rawal confirmed that Kartik Aaryan who was once rumoured to be joining the film is now out due to change in storyline.

Talking about the release of the third installment, Paresh said the shooting for the much awaited film is expected to start in August or September.

Fans are hoping Hera Pheri 3 will finally do justice to the franchise.Paresh Rawal’s words are a warning, comedy isn’t just about laughs, it’s about heart.

Will Hera Pheri 3 bring back the innocence of the original or will it fall into the same trap as the second one?

Fans are watching closely, and this time there’s no room for overconfidence.
