Ranveer Singh’s upcoming zombie thriller Pralay, directed by Jai Mehta, is already generating strong buzz on social media. The post apocalyptic film also marks Ranveer’s debut as a producer under his banner Maa Kasam Films.
Set in a futuristic Mumbai taken over by zombies, the film presents the city as a wasteland following an AI driven collapse. The concept and visuals have caught attention, with many calling it one of the most ambitious ideas attempted in mainstream Hindi cinema.
The buzz intensified after reports of an alleged phone call linked to the project surfaced online. This development has further raised interest around the film and its potential reach beyond Indian audiences.
According to media reports, Malayalam actress Kalyani Priyadarshan is set to make her Bollywood debut with Pralay. She is expected to play a key role alongside Ranveer Singh in the film.
Reports suggest Kalyani was initially unsure about taking up the offer. She recently starred in the Malayalam superhero film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra in 2025, where she played a vampire inspired superhero, which received strong audience response.
The actress was reportedly cautious about entering Bollywood, especially through a zombie genre film. Despite being the daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan, she was said to be keen on waiting for the right debut.
Sources claim Ranveer Singh personally spoke to Kalyani to explain the film’s vision. He reportedly addressed her concerns and shared how the makers plan to present a fresh narrative within the genre.
Convinced by the discussion and the overall approach, Kalyani is said to have signed the film. Pralay is expected to go on floors around July or August 2026.
As she prepares for her Hindi film debut, attention now turns to how Hindi audiences will receive her. The response could mirror the appreciation she received for Lokah.
If executed well, Pralay could prove to be a turning point for both Ranveer Singh and Kalyani Priyadarshan. The film aims to blend zombie action with strong characters and new age storytelling.
