Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 finally hit the screens on May 1st and going by the expectations, a decent opening of around 10-15 crores was expected at most.
However the film capitalized on several factors which boosted its first day collection till around 20 crores.

The long weekend strategy worked for the film along with the fact that people were interested in watching the sequel of a 100-crore film Raid which was released back in 2018.
The film managed to earn around 20 crores and received mixed reviews from the viewers and critics. However given the opening, the expectations were increased for day 2.

Unfortunately, the film looks to struggle at the box office and is looking weak as per early reports. With around 8 crores collections for day 2 as predicted by trade analysts, it is a huge drop from the first day collection of 20 crores.
While a drop was certainly expected, no one expected the film to have such a huge drop. Though it was a working day, the film needed a decent showing to maintain a good weekend.

Given the mixed word of mouth, people expected a lot more from the film in terms of plot and twists.
As the film has shown a huge drop, the weekend that remains is crucial for the film and by the numbers, it needs to earn around 60 crores in its first weekend to have a good lifetime earning.
With possible collections of over 15 crores on Saturday and Sunday, Raid 2 needs a lot of work to have a respectable and decent showing at the box office.
Only time will tell if the film will be able to have a stronghold this weekend as it will crash going into the second week.
