Ranveer Singh landed in controversy a few months ago after mimicking the Daiva scene from Kantara Chapter 1 at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India.
At the time, the backlash was expected to negatively affect the release of Dhurandhar. However, the film went on to become a blockbuster, and the controversy appeared to work in its favour instead.
The issue has now resurfaced, with an FIR reportedly filed against Ranveer Singh at the High Grounds Police Station in Bengaluru. The complaint was lodged by a Bengaluru-based advocate.
The FIR alleges that Ranveer Singh made derogatory remarks that demeaned the Daiva tradition. Although the actor had earlier apologised for the incident, the controversy does not seem to have settled.
With the matter now moving into the legal space, industry circles believe the timing could once again benefit Dhurandhar, especially with Dhurandhar Part 2 lined up for release.
As promotional activities are expected to begin soon, Ranveer Singh has once again become a trending topic on social media. His past statements are being widely shared and debated.
Only time will tell whether the renewed controversy will provide another promotional boost to Dhurandhar 2, just as it did for the first instalment, ahead of its March 19 release.
