Speculation around Dhurandhar 2 gained momentum on January 21 after reports suggested that Vicky Kaushal would reprise his Uri: The Surgical Strike character, Major Vihaan Shergill. The reports claimed his appearance would feature in Aditya Dhar’s upcoming sequel.
According to the claims, Vicky Kaushal had already filmed an extended cameo. This was said to link the timelines of Uri and Dhurandhar, hinting at a larger cinematic universe. The buzz excited fans due to the success of Uri and Kaushal’s past collaboration with the director.
However, the reports were quickly denied. Film journalist Subhash K. Jha quoted a source close to Aditya Dhar who clearly stated that Vicky Kaushal and Uri have no connection with Dhurandhar 2.
The source called the story fan-driven speculation and criticised sections of the media for presenting assumptions as confirmed news. The clarification arrived within hours and effectively ended the rumour.
Currently, Dhurandhar 2 features Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The cast also includes R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal, with the makers keeping most details under wraps.
Akshaye Khanna’s character from the first film is reportedly limited to brief flashback appearances. The film is largely set in Pakistan and focuses on high-intensity action rather than crossover storytelling.
