Superhit Re-release: Films Now on Erection Problems

Who knew that Sanam Teri Kasam, a flop film from 2016, would earn more in two days than it had earned during its lifetime collection back then?

Directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, the film was disliked by many due to its theme. The unconventional love story, the death of the heroine, and the choice of cast make it seem like an old-fashioned tale.

But over the years, it is as if the film has garnered a cult following exactly due to those reasons. The iconic songs, the tragic storyline and the unique love story are the reasons why many who watched it loved it.

The film was released yesterday and surprisingly, it emerged as the biggest opener of all time in a re-release, surpassing Tumbbad.

Tumbbad collected Rs 1.50 crore on its released opening day, whereas Sanam Teri Kasam collected about Rs 4 crore on February 7.

Originally made on a Rs 25 crore budget, the film only earned Rs 8 crore net in India during its 2016 run. Shockingly, its two-day re-release earnings are set to surpass that, even outperforming the combined business of Badass Ravi Kumar and Loveyapa.

In a recent interview, co-director Vinay Sapru shared that he always believed the film would be a blockbuster.

He noted that now, as the numbers roll in, people who once ignored them are suddenly reaching out.

When asked about why films like these aren’t being made anymore, he candidly said how most filmmakers can’t connect to the audience.

He talked about how films are being made about a character that has erectile function, throwing shade on films like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan. Such films are good as documentaries, he said, but cannot connect with a wide audience.

While some reports suggest that seats were self-booked or blocked, the undeniable buzz surrounding the film remains impressive—especially since it happened with zero promotion or publicity. In fact, some moviegoers even attended the screening thinking it was a sequel!

Sanam Teri Kasam may not have made an immediate impact upon release, but its lasting appeal proves its strong shelf life. Amidst the success of this film, fans are curious to know what the second part has in store for them.
