Bollywood is seeing a massive trend of re-releases. From iconic films like Veer Zaara to flop runs like Sanam Teri Kasam, the films are returning to the box office to add more digits to their overall collections.
Recall factor and critical appreciation of some films aside, even the most pathetic of projects are making room for their re-release that is senseless to many. Yet the trend has taken over the industry and every other week a new film is making it to the theatres again.
This Women’s day, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana is re-releasing. Its initial release landed in thick waters and the Raj Kumar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda starrer was a flop.
It had some socially significant touch points and a theme of cheesy Bollywood love, heartbreak and revenge. Its song Mera Inteqam Dekhegi became a popular heartbreak anthem.
But would it receive a similar reception like Laila Majnu or Sanam Teri Kasam on its re-release. These films were flop on initial run but redeemed themselves on re-release.
The makers and fans can only hope something like this happens with this film as well. But netizens feel that the re-release trend is getting a bit too annoying at this point.
