Vishwaksen’s #CULT is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on October 30. The project marks Vishwaksen’s attempt to explore the slasher genre as a writer and director. Sandeep Kakarala is producing the project under Tarak Cinemas. Billed as India’s first original slasher thriller, the film’s trailer is out now.
Over 300 people are stranded inside an island estate, surrounded by electric fencing and an RDX-rigged entrance. Their only chance of staying alive lies in participating in a series of dangerous games. Adding another element to the story, DSP Sankalp Nayak, a police officer, is also inside the estate.
One of the main highlights is Vishwaksen’s portrayal of DSP Sankalp Nayak, a police officer with an aggressive personality. He is not the kind of cop who follows conventional methods. The role also gives Vishwaksen scope to explore humour alongside action and intense moments.
The technical departments contribute to the film’s dark atmosphere. Aravind Viswanathan’s cinematography captures the mood of the movie, while Ravi Basrur’s background score adds to the tension.
The trailer focuses on suspense, violence and survival games, with a concept that is relatively uncommon in Indian cinema. #CULT is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 30, with simultaneous releases planned in Telugu, Hindi, English, Japanese and Spanish.
