SRK’s King Follows Dhurandhar: Genuine or Cash Grab?

Shah Rukh Khan King Two-Part Release Debate

Shah Rukh Khan’s King is one of the most awaited films of 2026. Everyone is eager to witness the superstar’s return to the big screen after a long gap of three years. With only two months left, a new development has now grabbed a lot of attention.

Insiders have claimed that the film will be released in two parts, following the trend of sequels. While the first is arriving on December 24, 2026, the second is possibly expected to be released a few months after the release of the first film.

The makers have reportedly decided to take the same path, specifically after the success of Dhurandhar. But a final decision is yet to be taken.

Sources said that the team has already started discussions. Notably, they are also thinking about ending the story in one installment instead of bringing a sequel. As of now, footage of more than four hours has been shot, which is sufficient for a follow-up.

While a confirmation is awaited, netizens have shared their opinion about the strategy on social media. Most of them supported the decision, saying that since the movie has multiple actors, every character needs some space to shine among the audience, and a sequel is the best option in this case.

Although a few others supported the decision, they said that the makers should first see whether the first one will work as expected at the box office, and if the numbers are outstanding, no one will object to watching the sequel. Some also advised maintaining a long gap of nine or more months to ensure that SRK does not get overexposed, impacting the collections in the end.

However, a majority were also against the idea of the sequel. Some questioned whether the makers were trying to use the name of SRK for their own benefit by making a sequel and attracting audiences through his stardom.

Amid all this, fans are expecting an update on the new teaser, which has already been certified by the CBFC and will be attached to the prints of Ramayana. Let’s wait and see if the story of King will end with one film or if it will expand to another entry.
