Recent reports suggested that Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna would lead a new romantic comedy directed by Amit Ravindranath Sharma. However, fresh industry updates indicate that the information circulating online may not be accurate.
According to sources quoted in recent industry discussions, neither Shahid Kapoor nor Rashmika Mandanna is currently attached to the project. Earlier claims about their involvement appear to have been premature and largely speculative.
Earlier this year, some entertainment portals reported that Amit Ravindranath Sharma was planning a high concept romantic comedy. The reports suggested Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna would play the lead roles in the film.
Those initial reports also claimed that production would begin after Shahid Kapoor completed shooting for Farzi Season 2. The update created significant buzz among fans who were eager to see the pairing on screen.
However, insiders have now clarified that the project has not yet finalised its cast. According to sources, the information that surfaced earlier was based on early stage discussions rather than confirmed casting decisions.
Reports suggest that Amit Ravindranath Sharma did approach Shahid Kapoor regarding the project. However, the actor was reportedly not keen on doing another romantic comedy at this stage of his career.
Shahid Kapoor is already set to work with Rashmika Mandanna in the upcoming film Cocktail 2. Because of that, he reportedly preferred not to take up another film from the same genre immediately.
Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna was never formally approached for the project. This directly contradicts earlier reports that named her as the female lead in the proposed romantic comedy.
Sources also indicate that the actress currently has a very busy schedule. Several upcoming projects are already lined up for her, which makes it unlikely for this film to be part of her immediate plans.
The yet untitled film is expected to be produced by Sunir Kheterpal in association with Jio Studios. However, the casting process is still ongoing and the final lineup has not yet been announced.
