Salman Khan is not looking to blast the box office this time with his Eid release Sikandar as the bookings for the film have been underwhelming so far.
The action entertainer has barely crossed the 2.5 crore mark across India which is extremely disappointing. Even his disastrous Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan managed to show good advance booking sales.
The sales in premiere locations including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are also low showcasing how people are not interested in a poorly hyped film despite Salman’s involvement.
With the current trends suggesting the first day opening to be around 20 crores, it is an historic low for Salman Khan given how his films collected over 40 crores on Eid release over the years.
As Sikandar faces huge trouble ahead of its release, South film L2: Empuraan is facing great success in terms of booking. The Malayalam industry is now competing with Bollywood and that too with their premiere star Salman Khan.
While it is alarming for Bollywood to know the importance of good promotions and hype, Salman’s Sikandar might be the next victim of poor hype and excitement.
If the current graph continues to go low for the film, Sikandar might become Salman’s biggest upset after giving several blockbusters and hits over the years. It remains to be seen if the booking sales pick up any pace ahead of its release on March 30.
