SRK in Deep Trouble? Bollywood Real Estate Scandal

Suhana Khan Alibaug land deal

Suhana Khan’s Alibaug land purchase controversy reveals worrying gaps in high-value property deals where basic legal rules are often overlooked.

In June 2023, the Bollywood star’s daughter acquired 1.5 acres in Thal village for nearly ₹12.91 crore. The deal was registered, stamp duty of over ₹77 lakh was paid, and ownership was transferred.

However, the land was originally allotted in 1968 strictly for agricultural use with a “no-sale” clause unless the District Collector approved the sale. This requirement appears to have been ignored, and officials may have prepared false reports to facilitate the transaction.

If proven, this would amount to collusion and serious misuse of power. It is baffling how Suhana Khan’s team proceeded with such a large-scale deal without verifying compliance with this fundamental condition.

Oversights in cases involving public figures are not merely personal errors; they set dangerous precedents and can harm governance standards.

A Special Investigation Team has flagged potential revenue loss to the state as conversion charges and other government fees were bypassed. If the charges are upheld, the agreement could be annulled and the land could revert to the government.

Suhana Khan has not yet issued a public statement. This episode highlights how real estate loopholes get exploited when money moves faster than law. Whether this lapse was deliberate or careless, both sellers and buyers must comply with conditions attached to government land.
