Thamma has seen a sharp fall at the box office after the Diwali weekend, registering nearly a 70% drop in collections. The MHCU’s latest release had opened well, benefitting from festive holidays and extended weekend screenings.
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandana, the film performed decently till Sunday but crashed on its first Monday. With total earnings hovering around ₹97 crores, the movie now appears unlikely to reach its earlier target of ₹150 crores.
Despite the drop, trade analysts believe Thamma was saved to some extent by its Diwali release window. Without the festive boost, the film might have struggled right from day one.
Thamma collected around ₹25 crores on its opening day and maintained a steady graph through the weekend. However, it slipped drastically post-festivities, managing only ₹4 crores on its first Monday.
With a 70% decline compared to its first-day numbers, the film’s lifetime total is now projected to end between ₹125 and ₹130 crores. A “Hit” status seems out of reach, and Thamma may eventually settle as an Average performer.
For that to happen, the movie needs a stable second-week run without further drops. All eyes are now on how Thamma fares at the box office in the coming days.
