The makers of Stree are building suspense around their next project, now titled Thamma. The film’s name recently gained an extra “M,” shifting from Thama to Thamma. Whether due to numerology or strategy, such changes are common in Bollywood.
Billed as a “bloody love story,” the film releases this Diwali with a strong cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, it is being promoted by Maddock Films as a “phenomenon in the making.”
A special launch event is planned at Bandra Fort this Friday evening. Shraddha Kapoor’s name being linked to the film suggests a crossover with the Stree universe. The tagline, “O Stree… kal nahin, parso aa rahi hai,” keeps that connection alive.
The question is whether this shared universe will spark genuine excitement or risk overloading the story with too many characters. Horror, romance, and bloodshed are promised, but promotions already hint at exaggeration.
Ultimately, audiences will judge Thamma by its storytelling, not just gimmicky titles or dramatic teases. Friday’s reveal should offer a clearer sense of whether this film expands Maddock’s horror-comedy universe smartly or simply rides on hype.
