Audiences undoubtedly missed the iconic duo, Uday and Majnu, in the latest installment of the Welcome franchise, Welcome to the Jungle. Notably, producer Firoz Nadiadwala has made some new plans for the characters, portrayed by Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, respectively.
Insiders have claimed that Anil and Nana are in discussion with Firoz to appear in a zombie comedy. The movie will be directed by Ahmed Khan, marking another collaboration with Firoz.
Sources have stated that Firoz has approached the actors, aiming to bring a side of them that viewers have never seen in the past. The insiders said that they are expected to become Uday and Majnu in the modern world, which means that there will be something new and different.
The script is being prepared, and Firoz has already finalized Tiger Shroff to play the lead role. Moreover, it is expected to feature an ensemble cast and will be a part of the family comedy universe created by Firoz, which aims to attract children along with adults.
While the return of the iconic characters has raised expectations, the selection of the lead actor and director has also led to a lot of concern. A majority of the people reacted on social media, saying that Ahmed might destroy the characters completely compared to Anees Bazmee, who knew how to present them on screen.
People even advised Firoz to reconsider his decision, including the selection of Tiger Shroff to play the lead. Most of them stated that Tiger is not expected to pull the audience in today’s time, and in case there is no other option, Firoz should bring back Anees.
Although Uday and Majnu are iconic characters, their presence cannot be expected to attract the masses. The movie needs a star value. While Tiger’s selection has raised a lot of questions, let’s see if Firoz will take the feedback seriously or if he will prefer to do what he wants to.
