War 2 is all set to hit the screens on August 14, 2025. Expectations are sky-high considering its franchise potential and the reputation of YRF Spy Universe, which has managed to pull crowds to theatres, specifically in the single screens.
Although the makers have not released any singles or the complete trailer of the film until now, there is an expectation that War 2 might touch the mark of Rs. 1,000 crores or more. Predictions are being made that it could break the record of Pathaan, which grossed almost Rs. 1,050 crores.
Apart from Hrithik Roshan returning as Kabir, War 2 will also feature Jr. NTR playing the main antagonist. While Pathaan did not get a lot of support from South audiences, War 2 is supposed to get the same, specifically in Telugu states, as Jr. NTR is one of the leads.
Back in 2019, War managed to gross almost Rs. 450 crores, with an opening of Rs. 53 crores. It remains to be seen if War 2 can break the numbers set by War.
For now, War 2 has to collect Rs. 600 crores or more to maintain the reputation of YRF Spy Universe. Even if it does not touch the mark of Rs. 1,000 crores and ends its theatrical run at Rs. 800-900 crores, it will still be considered a big success.
On the other hand, the film is already dealing with a lot of red flags, including the backlash of the teaser from a particular section of the audience for bad VFX and less focus on Jr. NTR. Moreover, there is some doubt about the film’s success after the underwhelming response to Tiger 3.
Everything now depends on the songs and trailer of War 2, which needs to be bigger and better than War. Let’s wait for more updates on the same in the upcoming days.
