Prabhas and postponements have an interesting history. On several occasions, his films moved away from massive clashes, only for their original competitors to achieve massive box-office success. Meanwhile, Prabhas’s own films struggled to meet expectations.
Adipurush was moved away from its earlier release plans around Pathaan in January 2023. The result? Adipurush became a box-office disaster with heavy trolling, while Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan emerged as an all-time grosser.
Salaar was postponed from its planned September 2023 clash with Jawan. Prabhas‘s film eventually underperformed at the box office when it released in December 2023, while Jawan became an all-time blockbuster and one of Hindi cinema’s biggest grossers.
The pattern continued with The Raja Saab. The film was initially expected to clash with Dhurandhar, but its release plans changed. The Raja Saab went on to become a huge disaster, while Dhurandhar emerged as a massive box-office success.
Now, attention has shifted to Prabhas’s upcoming projects.
Fauzi has moved away from a clash with Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha in December 2026. The box-office verdicts for both films remain to be seen.
Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has also seen its release plans change around a potential clash with Salman Khan’s Monster during Eid 2027 in March. Their eventual box-office performances are still awaited.
Of course, postponing a film does not automatically guarantee that Prabhas’s delayed film will fail. Several factors, including content, audience response, marketing and release timing, determine a film’s fate.
Still, the repeated pattern makes for an interesting talking point. Whenever a Prabhas film moves away from a major clash, fans and trade observers inevitably look at what happens to both films.
Will Fauzi and Spirit finally break this pattern, or will the postponement debate continue? Their box-office verdicts could make the next chapter even more interesting.
