jaat-box-office

Jaat has been doing a decent business at the box office, but the numbers are still not enough to make it a big blockbuster. The biggest question is why audiences did not turn up in large numbers in theatres despite that Jaat had all the elements to attract viewers, specifically in single screens.

While the film collected Rs. 9.25 crores on the first day, the numbers witnessed a little bit of rise in the next few days. But the figures should have been better, specifically after the success of Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, and the buzz created from the teaser and trailer.

The makers were completely dependent on Sunny Deol instead of focusing on other things, including music. None of the songs turned out to be a chartbuster, including Urvashi Rautela’s dance number.

Moreover, Jaat is a standalone film and not a sequel to any of Sunny’s cult classics over the years. Sunny’s action can be an attractive point, but it is not an uncommon thing in any masala film nowadays. The film needed to be better in other departments.

While Gadar 2 had Ameesha Patel as the lead actress, Jaat did not have anything like that. Although the story was supposed to focus on the confrontation between the hero and villain, the addition of an actress could have possibly left a better impact.

Apart from this, the film is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, a company that has delivered blockbusters over the years. Since they were making a debut in Bollywood, they should have monitored everything before the film’s release.

Jaat is still doing good business in places such as Punjab and Bihar, where people love to watch action films. The film will possibly end its theatrical run at Rs. 80 crores, and the numbers might rise in case the film does not face any major competition in the upcoming weeks.

Jaat clearly can’t break the records of Gadar 2. But at the same time, it is expected to attract audiences for Sunny’s next film and Mythri’s next Bollywood project, whenever it is released on the big screen.
